Banca Postropical Comunitaria

The Banca Postropical Comunitaria is a shared time·space for the envisioning of interTropical choreographies for the circulation of value. It reconfigures economic relations through models of mutual aid and reciprocity, and explores financial services for the lateral exchange between tropi-localities.

Braindances: Our Principles

Braindances function as collective states of perception. Borrowed from video game cultures, where Braindance technologies allow players to experience shared memories, sensations, and consciousness, they operate here not as fixed principles or rules, but as shared ways of sensing, relating, and making decisions within an interdependent ecosystem.

  1. Intertropical

    Recognizing the Tropical Belt as a planetary zone of convergence, inter·dependence, and polyrhythmic co·existence and circulation across winds, humidity indexes, and gravitational fields. (Not-mediated by global north / imperial core?)

  2. Plural economies

    Valuing multiplicity, circulation, and mutual support beyond singular economic measurments. We take inspiration from community banks, local currencies, traditional labor systems, social saving circles and other para-capitalist systems.

  3. Post-tropical

    The post-tropical reimagines the tropics beyond exotic fantasies and fixed climates, understanding them instead as shifting entanglements of ecology, technology, infrastructure, migration, and collective survival. An endotic prism of the tropics!

  4. Scaling sideways

    Embracing alternative paradigms of scaling inspired by rhizomes, mycelial networks, musical scales, mesoeconomies and p2p architectures. Recognizing the potential of translocal protocols connecting localized LANscapes.

  5. Beyond digital monoculture

    We understand cybernetic infrastructures as political territories shaped by asymmetries of access, extraction, surveillance, and dependency. Moving beyond digital monocultures, we seed techno·diversities, perma-computing, and situated infra·structures of circulation, communication, re·pair, and mutual support across the Tropical Belt.

  6. Creolizing / pidginizing systems

    Re·forming systems through remix, derive-in-translation, re·tuning, and cannibalistic re·appropriation across cosmologies & cultures, technologies, infra·structures and meshworks.

  7. Stealth economies (auntie-system)

    Learning from informal and pirate economies of black and street markets resisting the centralizing power of capital and the artificial scarcity imposed by intellectual property. We support goods that can be original, cloned, stolen and smuggled. Fostering economies where being ilegible to the State is an asset, not a liability.

  8. Multivalent / masala / generative

    Beyond Static Standards, Universalism, and Globalism. Supporting infra·structures capable of mutation, translation, and recombination across different intertropical contexts. Banks are situated institutions tied to a territory.

  9. Choreographies of circulation

    Approaching economies as collective choreographies of movement, relation, timing, and mutual carrying. Shaking stagnation.

The Banca Postropical Comunitaria began long before its spell. It existed in the suspended dust crossing from the Sahara toward Amazonia. In the geostationary skies claimed above the equator. In the monsoon routes and tricontinental assemblies.

In journals drifting between SWANA flows and Nusantara winds. In ChaChaCha songs of interDependence traveling faster than treaties. In shipwrecked synthesizers redistributed across archipelagos. In rotating debts, cooperative arak, liquidarity canteens, and unfinished federations.

The Tropics were never disconnected. They were prevented in dis·location from recognizing themselves as planetary infra·structure.

Time·Mesh

A proverb says that one of the first threads of the InterTropical BanKanga Comunitaria began as a volleyball net manufactured in Taitung. After drifting through circuits of trade and informal exchange crossing Cyberabad, it arrived in Dakar where it was re·purposed as a fishing net, gathering salt, algae, rumors, and tides along the Atlantic coast. Years later, after another crossing, fragments of it washed ashore in Rio de Janeiro, where it was stretched once more — this time as a hammock suspended above a canga in a shopping chão. Somewhere between sport infra·structure, survival tool, ocean drift, street commerce, and resting device, the net slowly forgot its original function. Or perhaps it finally found its resting form. Since then, some say the InterTropical BanKanga Comunitaria has existed precisely there: in the continuous re-choreographing of materials, bodies, climates, and forms of mutual carrying across the interTropical Belt.
